We all know how heartbreaking it is to say goodbye to a pet.

We all know how heartbreaking it is to say goodbye to a pet.

A good man can use our support a week after his beloved dog named Rango crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Snead (AL) Police Chief Casey Hathcock hugged his beloved K-9 last Wednesday, just days after Rango was diagnosed with cancer.
It was time to say goodbye.

Chief Hathcock’s wife Michelle reached out last night to offer up her thoughts on Rango- not only a loyal K-9 but also the family dog.

Wrote Michelle:

“Casey and Rango shared a remarkable bond over three years, a partnership that was not only professional but deeply personal.

“Rango, a dedicated K9, had been with the police department for four years after being brought in from a K9 trainer in New Mexico. Together, they formed an incredible team, with Rango showcasing his talent for tracking down those who tried to escape on foot.
He loved the thrill of the chase, leaping through creeks and mud with Casey by his side.

“Rango was exceptional at his job, earning the title of the best in Blount County. His passion for finding drugs and keeping them off the streets was unwavering, and he was always ready to respond, regardless of the call.

“Rango had a soft spot for kids, relishing days spent in the park or at community festivals, where he loved being petted and playing with his favorite ball.

“Their unity was unparalleled; Casey and Rango were truly unstoppable in their mission to ensure community safety.
However, their journey took a heartbreaking turn when they discovered Rango had cancer.
Despite the devastating news, Rango’s spirit remained unbroken.
He fought valiantly, determined to make Casey proud and never shying away from his duties until the very end.

“Sadly, just three days later, his condition worsened, and he struggled to walk, eat, and drink.
Throughout this challenging time, Casey remained steadfastly by Rango’s side, embodying the deep connection they shared as partners.

“Their love and loyalty to each other remained unshaken, a testament to their extraordinary bond until the very end.”

I know my Facebook family is a family of kindness and empathy.

I know that each and every one of you will send your condolences to Chief Hathcock (who is having a tough time), his family and the entire Snead Police Department.
