The controversy began last week when Gaines, a former collegiate swimmer turned political activist, reacted to a Minnesota High School softball team that secured a state championship with a biological male pitcher on their roster.

Gaines responded to the post by stating, “To be expected when your star player is a boy.” This comment did not resonate well with Biles, who labeled Gaines as “truly sick.”

Biles, a seven-time Olympic gold medalist, further commented, “Bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.”

In response to the gymnast’s remarks on Friday, Gaines expressed, “This is so disappointing. My perspective is the least controversial opinion on the planet. Simone Biles being a male-apologist at the expense of young girls’ aspirations? That was not something I anticipated.”
